HERITAGE
VOLUNTEERS
Passionate about
Heritage Issues? Keen to learn new skills?
Why not play a part in preserving our
national heritage by archiving,
stewarding, and conserving books and
textiles in museums, galleries, National
Trust properties, historic houses and
libraries nationwide and make new friends
at the same time.
NADFAS Heritage
Volunteers are members who give their time
to help preserve our heritage; people with
commitment, discipline and enthusiasm;
people who have the ability to work as
part of a team; people who find the work
stimulating and rewarding. Volunteers
archive anything from military memorabilia
to photographic collections, making
replica costumes and conserving books and
textiles.
Appropriate
training is given to all Heritage
Volunteers by professional conservators,
curators and advisors. Training is given
in the conservation of books, manuscripts,
archives and maps; cataloguing documents
and archival listing etc.
Scarborough DFAS
has for many years had various teams of
volunteers working in local museums,
galleries, libraries, historic houses,
churches and archives, conserving valuable
and historic items for generations to
come. Our Heritage Volunteers
together with those from York DFAS are
starting a book conservation project in
the library at Scampston Hall.
